Policies and Procedures
(Please read carefully)
General Policies
1. REGISTRATION FEE:
a. For new students, or those enrolling after missing last season, a $20.00 registration fee, per student, will be
collected at the time of registration. This fee is non-refundable and non-transferable, no exceptions.
b. For currently enrolled students, a $10.00 re-enrollment fee, per student, will be collected at the time of
re- registration. This fee is non-refundable and non-transferable, no exceptions. This reduced fee is only for
students who were enrolled in the previous season of dance classes.
2. Tuition remains the same whether it is a long (5 week) or short (3 week) month, regardless of absences. The only exception to this is the month of August, which is charged as a half-month.
3.You will be charged for lessons on a monthly basis, with the exception of Adult classes (see below). Your monthly payment will stay the same unless a class is added or dropped. You will be charged for a full month even if a class is dropped mid-month.
4. Tuition is due at the first lesson of the month and must be paid in full. Payment will be considered late as of the second week of class each month. Payment is expected to be in on time. No statements will be sent out unless you are overdue. Families taking multiple lessons may make other payment arrangements by speaking with Miss Annette.
5. All accounts 15 days past due will be charged a late fee of $10.00. NO EXCEPTIONS. Every 15 days past due another late fee will be charged. Once you are 30 days past due your child's enrollment will be suspended until your account is up to date.
6. We accept cash, checks, credit cards, money orders, and cashiers checks for all tuition and registration fees. Costumes, recital fees, competition fees, and other 'non-tuition' payments must be paid in cash or by check. Accepted cards are Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. We also now accept debit cards!
PLEASE NOTE: All cash payments for TUITION ONLY will receive a 5% discount. This discount applies ONLY TO CASH PAYMENTS MADE FOR TUITION. Debit card payments are not considered the same as cash.
7. Please make all checks payable to Miss Annette's. Please include your dancers first and last name on the memo line of your check for proper application of payment. You may turn your check in at the desk or, for your convenience, you may drop your check in the payment box, located in the waiting room. Please do not leave any payment in the outside mail box.
8. All cash payments must be made at the desk. Receipts and a 5% discount will only be given for cash payments only. Discount applies only to tuition.
9. In the event that a check is returned from the bank you will be charged a $25.00 bank fee and will be required to pay the amount of the returned check in cash, as well as any additional fees. No discount will be given for cash payments made to replace a returned check.
Adult Class Policy
All Adult classes will be on a 6, 7, or 8 week session. There will be a session for each class offered starting in the fall, another in January, and a third session in the spring. Each session is billed in full for the length of class time offered (6, 7, or 8 weeks). The same cash discount applies to Adult classes.
Late Start Policy
Some of our students prefer to wait until other fall activities are finished before starting dance classes. I will always try to be accommodating by holding a place in class until your schedule clears. To do this, first, get registered and pay your registration fee. Then, mail in a deposit equal to your first months tuition. Once this is paid, your spot in the class or classes of your choice will be held for you. After you are able to start dancing your deposit will be applied to your FIRST FULL MONTH of classes. In the event that you start mid-month we will pro-rate that months tuition and apply your deposit to the next full month. Should you decide not to take class your deposit will be forfeited. In an effort to be fair to all there will be NO EXCEPTIONS to this policy. Any student who starts late may also need to come in for some extra help to get caught up with the class. We want all our students to feel secure about their progress!
Class Conduct
We believe dancing is for everyone and will do our best to keep an upbeat, friendly, and fun atmosphere. To be a successful dancer a certain amount of discipline is needed in and out of the classroom. Students are expected to be courteous and respectful to teachers, parents, and fellow dancers at all times. Students may be removed from class if behavior becomes disruptive.
Class Attendance
In order for your child to get the most from their dance experience it is important that they attend their class each week. Not only will it ensure that your child keeps up with the class material but it will also help build their self-confidence. In the event that your child must miss a class please speak with the instructor and see if an extra class is needed to get caught up. No formal make up classes are offered but we are willing to work with each student on an 'as needed' basis.
Attire
Proper dance attire is very important for each and every class for safety and optimum mobility. The following dance attire guidelines will be in effect for children:
Girls: Leotard and tights (any style and color) or other regular dance clothing. Please no baggy sweat pants, sweatshirts, T-shirts, or shorts made of a heavy material or that are long and baggy. These items hide your body lines. Students may wear pull on style shorts or a dance skirt with their leotards, if desired. Long hair must be tied back and out of the face. This is for your dancers safety!
Boys: Sweatpants (long or cut off) or shorts and a close fitting shirt, tucked in. Under Amour is a great choice for boys!
Shoes
Dance students need proper shoes designed for the type of dance they are studying. Please follow these guidelines when choosing dance shoes:
BALLET: Pink is preferred, white or black are also acceptable. Should have a 1/4 inch elastic sewn across the instep. Must be worn for ballet and may be worn for jazz. All shoes must be true Ballet shoes - please no slippers!
JAZZ: Tie style oxford or slip on style jazz shoes. Ballet shoes may also be worn. Older, more advanced students may also wear sneaker style but must have permission of the class instructor.
TAP: For Pre and Beginner tap we recommend one-eyelet tie style or Mary Jane buckle style tap shoes. For Intermediate, Teen, and Adult tap we recommend an oxford style, lace up shoe. Please no high heel tap shoes. Please speak with Miss Annette for a recommendation on which style of tap shoes are best for your dancer.
MUSICAL THEATER: Jazz or Ballet shoes.
LYRICAL & CONTEMPORARY: We will discuss shoes for these classes on an individual basis.
Class Observation
All visitors are welcome to observe class via the viewing window in the waiting room. Please note that your dancer cannot see you thru the window so please do not tap on the glass. Parents are responsible for keeping young children away from the viewing window at all times. No one will be permitted in the teaching room to observe class other than a dancer who is unable to dance due to injury or illness.
PARENTS PLEASE NOTE: Non-dancing siblings must have a parent or other responsible, adult person in the waiting room with them at all times. Please be courteous and pick up after your children and please keep noise levels to a minimum. Please bring quiet activities to keep your child occupied.
Communication
At the time of registration you are asked for an email address. In an effort to keep our fees as low as possible all studio communication will be through email. This will include all announcements, reminders, schedule updates, class cancellations, recital and other performance information including rehearsal and performance schedules. It is imperative that we keep the lines of communication open and we can only do this if we have a current and updated email for your student. If you change your email please make sure you update the studio immediately!
Please remember that while we are teaching class we will not answer the phone. If you need to contact Miss Annette or any of our staff always leave a message and be sure to include your name and phone number!
Class Cancellation
If classes need to be canceled for any reason we will send out a mass email as well as post it here, on our Facebook page, and the studio voicemail. We do not necessarily cancel classes when schools are canceled! Often, by the time our classes start for the day, roads are clear and we are able to hold class. Please check any of the above if you are not sure of the status of your classes for the day. Classes canceled due to inclement weather will not be rescheduled. Classes canceled due to teacher illness will be rescheduled and the reschedule date and time will be emailed directly to you.
End of Year Recital
Most of our students and parents prefer an end of the year performance opportunity so we will offer this option each year. Full details will be sent in an email including date, time, cost, and costuming information. We try very hard to keep the cost of this event reasonable. Participation is not mandatory and a student may continue in their class thru the end of the school year however, we will ask for a participation decision by December due to costume ordering and planning choreography.
